Tomato Bruschetta Recipe
Welcome to my kitchen! Today, I’m going to share with you my delicious Tomato Bruschetta recipe. This classic Italian appetizer is perfect for any occasion and is sure to impress your guests. With a combination of fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, and crusty bread, this dish is bursting with flavor. So, let’s get started!
Ingredients:
- 4 medium-sized tomatoes (500g / 1.1 lbs)
- 2 cloves of garlic
- A handful of fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 loaf of crusty bread (baguette or ciabatta)
Directions:
- Start by preparing the tomatoes. Wash them thoroughly, then dice them into small pieces. Place the diced tomatoes in a bowl.
- Finely chop the garlic cloves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes.
- Next, chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl as well.
- Add the olive oil and balsamic vinegar to the bowl, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Let the tomato mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- While the tomato mixture is resting, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Slice the crusty bread into 1-inch thick slices. Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and drizzle them with olive oil.
- Toast the bread slices in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they become golden and crispy.
- Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Once the bread has cooled, spoon the tomato mixture onto each bread slice, spreading it evenly.
- Serve the Tomato Bruschetta immediately and enjoy!
Notes/Tips:
– For added flavor, you can rub the garlic cloves on the toasted bread slices before topping them with the tomato mixture.
– Feel free to adjust the amount of garlic, basil, and seasoning according to your taste preferences.
– You can also add some mozzarella cheese or drizzle with balsamic glaze for extra richness.
