Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Marsala wine
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the butter and use your fingers to incorporate it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add the Marsala wine and egg, mixing until the dough comes together. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/8-inch thick. Cut out circles using a round cookie cutter.
  5. Place a generous amount of the chopped pistachios onto half of each circle. Fold the other half over and press the edges to seal, creating a half-moon shape.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F. Fry the cannoli shells until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Notes/Tips

  • Do not overcrowd the fryer or saucepan as this can lower the oil’s temperature and result in soggy cannoli shells.
  • These cannoli shells can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. Fill them with your favorite cannoli cream just before serving to keep them crisp.
  • For a more intense pistachio flavor, consider adding a few drops of pistachio extract to the dough.

Enjoy the crispy, nutty goodness of Pistachio Cannoli Shells. This recipe is not only easy to follow but also gives you the chance to experience a taste of Italy right in your own kitchen.
