  • 3 grams (0.5 teaspoon) of salt
  • 8 grams (1 tablespoon) of ground ginger
  • 2 grams (0.5 teaspoon) of ground cinnamon
  • 113 grams (0.5 cup) of unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 200 grams (1 cup) of granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 45 grams (0.25 cup) of molasses
  • Extra sugar for rolling

Follow these steps to make your own delicious gingersnap cookies:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, and cinnamon.
  3. In a larger bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until it becomes light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg to the butter and sugar mixture, followed by the molasses. Mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls and then roll them in the extra sugar.
  7. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Here are some tips to make your gingersnap baking experience even better:

  • If you prefer your gingersnaps to be a bit chewier, try baking them for a shorter amount of time.
  • You can store these cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • To add an extra layer of flavor, try adding a pinch of ground cloves or nutmeg to the dough.
