Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 ½ tablespoons ghee or oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2-3 green cardamom pods
- 2-3 cloves
- 1-inch cinnamon stick
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Directions
- Wash the basmati rice under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for about 15-20 minutes.
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee or oil over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds, cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon stick to the pan. Sauté for a minute until the spices release their aroma.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the rice turns slightly golden.
- Pour 2 cups of water into the pan and season with salt. Stir well.
